Sephora Play Box June 2017 – Unboxing & Review

Once again I’m a little late sharing my Sephora Play Box this month, but better late than never, right? For those of you who aren’t familiar with the Sephora Play Box, it’s a $10/mo subscription box that includes 5 sample size high-end beauty products, basically items that are sold at Sephora. Beyond that you also get a sample fragrance and 50 additional points for your next Sephora purchase.

This month’s theme is “Summer Starters”, and includes primarily skin prepping and priming products, as well as a Kat Von D lippie.

Products I Received in My Box

Benefit – POREfessional Face Primer

Benefit’s POREfessional face primer is a favorite in the beauty industry. It minimizes the appearance of pores (and actually fills them in) so that your makeup goes on smooth and looks flawless. The formula is silky, lightweight and translucent. POREfessional primer retails for $31 USD at Sephora.

First Aid Beauty – Hello FAB Coconut Skin Smoothie Priming Moisturizer

Summer is the season for coconut, which makes the Hello FAB Coconut Skin Smoothie Priming Moisturizing ideal. What makes it particularly ideal, is the superfoods the formula is jam packed with, such as coconut water, quinoa and electrolytes. It works great for all skin types, especially dry skin, and leaves the skin with a dewy finish. Don’t worry oily ladies, it’s also oil free. The Coconut Skin Smoothie Moisturizer retails for $28 USD at Sephora.

OUAI – Rose Gold Hair & Body Oil

Rose gold is having a moment this year, and apparently that trickles down to hair care products as well. The OUAI Rose Gold Hair & Body oil is a lightweight oil that illuminates and hydrates your hair (and body, if you so choose). The formula is fast absorbing, so it won’t leave you oily for extended periods of time. Use for added shine and to tame flyaways. The OUAI Rose Gold Hair Oil retails at Sephora for $32 USD.

Kat Von D – Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in K-Dub

Kat Von D is well known for highly pigmented, cruetly free makeup. Their liquid lippies are no joke. I received the Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in K-dub, a bright fuscia color. Although I’m not head over heels for the color of this one, I do love the formula and will probably keep the sample to use on clients in my freelance kit. Kat’s Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks are available (in 45 shades) at Sephora for $20 USD. >> View on Sephora

IGK – Rich Kid Coconut Oil Gel

A coconut infused hair styling gel that also softens and hydrates the hair. The formula separates strands and gives them a boost of shine. It’s the perfect gel for creating beach waves. Rich Kid Coconut Oil Gel retails at Sephora for $27 USD. >> View on Sephora

*BONUS SCENT* – Yves Saint Laurent – Black Opium

Yves Saint Laurent’s Black Opium is one of my favorite perfumes. The formula is infused with scents of coffee, vanilla and white flowers. More of a night time perfume, as it’s a little heavy but definitely luxurious. YSL Black Opium Perfume retails at Sephora for $28-$118 USD. >> View on Sephora

Final Thoughts on The June Box

Overall, this box was mediocre to me. I haven’t heard of most of these brands, so the excitement factor wasn’t huge. I think one more makeup item, in lieu of one of the oils or primers would have been nice, but it is what it is.

Feel free to comment below if you have any questions or thoughts. If you’re a Play box subscriber let me know what you got in your box!

I’m actually most impressed with the primers. I use porefessional every day, just on my areas with large pores and use another primer all over. And I have heard good things about first aid beauty. Do you find it to be a good subscription? I currently get boxycharm and just started getting ipsy. Though I’m not sure how I feel about boxycharm because rarely do we get anything that is sold at stores like Sephora or Ulta, or include brands that I have even heard of for that matter.

I absolutely love the sephora play box, due to the higher end type products. I was doing Ipsy once before, but cancelled because I was getting a lot of repeats and just junk that I didn’t often use. The bags you get with that are super cute tho. Have not tried boxy charm. PS: your site doesn’t work for me 🙁

Wish I would’ve gotten some of the things you did! I’m eyeing pretty much anything by Ouai and IGK.

What did you get? See, I’m more of the makeup girl – the hair stuff is nice, but I tend to let it pile up and not use it as much. I do like the IGK coconut gel though, nice for summer!
